Beds and bathrooms
A private bathroom and easy bed access are different features. Lindu and Chengdu offer private bathrooms; Shifang’s four-berth compartments use shared toilets, washstands and showers. Snow Country’s upper berths require a ladder. Consider the bed allocated to every traveller, including any sofa bed used by a child.
Steps, transfers and terrain
The New Oriental itinerary includes the Kanas Fish-Watching Platform, reached by 1,068 steps after a vehicle transfer when conditions allow. Its northern route also includes road legs such as the approximately five-hour Beitun–Hemu drive. On Shifang’s Pamir day, listed lake stops are around 3,300–3,600 metres above sea level.
- Train travel does not remove the walking, road transfers or terrain of the excursions. Review the demands of the exact days you are considering.
Assistance on the train
Shifang provides health ambassadors with physician or nurse qualifications to accompany guests on the train. Lindu has an onboard infirmary; confirm its staffing for your departure. If assistance is essential to your trip, discuss the support available both aboard and on each day’s excursions before booking.
Boarding and individual requirements
Boarding steps, corridor access and bathroom dimensions need to be confirmed for the exact train and stations. Private bathrooms should not be assumed to be adapted for wheelchair use. Before booking, explain any essential access, dietary or language requirement so the team can confirm the arrangements that apply on the train and during excursions.
